Does anybiody happen to know the N400 timeline in vermont service center. I submitted my N400 application in June 2006 and got Fingerprint in July but the case has not moved since then. I live in Philadelphia region.

VSC (Philly DO?) -

PD - 6/29/06

It will depend on where you live and which district office you belong to. I assume you live in South Jersey that is handled by Cherry Hill/Mount Laurel office. Unfortunately, it is the slowest office in the nation. I have seen someone who hasn't get IL with PD on June 30.

You are not only outside the regular timeframe (based on cases posted here - Philly DO has interviewed some people who applied in late September) but outside the official timeline as well. Philly DO is supposed to be processing cases with PD in July as of February 20. The processing dates will be updated on March 20 and will probably move ahead by a month. You are probably stuck in name check. There's not much you can do to expedite that but you may at least want to take an InfoPass appointment and see if you can get any further details on your case.

Good luck !

Thanks for the info I have two questions

1) How do we know if the case has been handed to Philly DO? The case can just be with Vermont SC

2) I am not familiar with info pass can you please shed some light on that for me. Appreciate it.

You can schedule the InfoPass appointment here

http://infopass.uscis.gov/

Even that may not yield much information other than that your case is in background check but that is more than you can get by calling USCIS.

Your file is first reviewed by the Vermont Service center and once the background check is cleared it is sent to a district office for interview scheduling. On the InfoPass page if you enter your zipcode you can confirm that your case comes under Philly DO. Is that where you got your fingerprints done ? If so that is another good indication.

N400 - Dover, DE Suboffice

Hi,

I live in Middletown, DE and I submitted N400 to Vermont Service Center and got the FingerPrint done on Dover Suboffice.

Prioriy date - August 23, 2006
FingerPrint date - Sep 25, 2006.

When I check the status online, it says "Case received and pending". When I call the 800 number and provide my ESC Receipt number to get the status, its always saying "You didnt enter enough number to find the application". In my receipt number I have ESC followed by *(asterisk) and 9 digits and while entering the Receipt number in the 800 call, I am entering the * (star key) followed by my 9 digits. Not sure whats happening. Does anyone has the same problem? How can I find out the status? Please help!!!

Thanks,
Priya

I made the same mistake the first time I tried it. You need to enter ESC (372) as well. But don't expect to get any more up-to-date information by calling that number (unless you manage to speak to an immigration officer). The automated case status system just reads out the status that you can find online.

Priya, Kent and myself are all from DE. All of us seem to have a timeline much longer than Philadelphia. Is there someone else from Delaware with better experience?

I am from Newark, DE.
I got my interview done 2 weeks ago after ~ 5 months of wait after the FP in Dover. My wife applied the same day, was FP'd the same day, but has not heard anything.:(

According to the USCIS web page, they are now processing 8/12 applications.
Add 30 days and she could still have more than 2 months to go. Why mine was so fast - no one will ever know...

Thanks DrJochen for the comments. It is confusing why Dover even shows N-400s as being processed there?? What are they doing there if all interviews are in Philadelphia... hmm...

Kenttina from DE above had his FP taken in June and still no interview. I was guessing if it may be related to Dover, since I am waiting for an interview since FPs in July, but who knows... could be name checks, could be anything.

As for the dates on the field office websites, I think they are complete rubbish. The dates are the same for every single field office across the country. The chance of such coincidence is zero.

** Update - Got notice for initial interview today. Date for the interview is 5/2/07. Anybody know if this is it and I will get Oath after this or this is just an initial interview ?

Congrats Immi. Based on other posts for Philadelphia, the Oath is not on the same day in Philadelphia.

If you were asking if there will be any further steps between the interview and the oath, the answer is probably not if everything goes well at the interview. If the IO doesn't find any reason to deny your application or investigate it any further he/she will give you a notice informing you that your case has been approved. You will then receive a letter in the mail asking you to appear for the oath. The next oath in Philly is supposed to be in mid-June (I am hoping to make it to that one too).

And oh yeah, congrats on finally getting your IL. It seems that you've had quite a long wait.

Priya Suri,

Me and Kenttina had constructive answers from IO there (to extent USCIS computer allows of course).

Back from infopass appointment

Hi,

Just finished the appointment with Immigration Officer in Dover,DE. The officer said mine is in "Name Check" still. When I asked him how long it will take to clear the Name Check, he said "I am not sure, but just be patient".

Does anyone know how long it will take to clear the "Name Check"?

Thanks,
Priya
