N400 tax return question

I am new to this forum. Please help.

I am married to US citizen since 2004. I submitted my I751 application on
April, 2008 since the my two years conditional residence expired in June 2008.
My I751 application is presently pending. I have the following questions and
need help from any who have been through this process:

1) Can I file for N400 while my I751 is still pending?
2) My tax returns for the past three years were filed as "Married Filing
Separate" because my wife did not pay income tax due to extended family
financial problems. Since I have no intention to mess with the IRS, I
decided to go ahead and file separately, how will this affect my N400
application process?

my time line is similliar as you , USCIS just asked me RFE. I am waiting but we can not apply N400. You can see conditions in this website.

I just apply INFORMPASS to stamp 551 for my passport 3/2009

According to requirement,

# You have been a Lawful Permanent Resident for at least 3 years AND:

* You have been married to and living with the same U.S. citizen for the last 3 years; AND
* Your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the last 3 years.
