For anyone who may be interested. I live in the Wash DC area. Mailed my N400 to VSC on 12/13/2005. They received it on 12/15, my PD is 12/15.

The receipt says I should expect to hear from the loacl office about my interview date in 90 days.

I wonder if it is really that fast.

good luck

How do you came about to know they received your application and what receipt is it you are referring to, is it the check you submitted?

from what i heard , all application to VSC got redirected to another location before it is sent to the Service Center?

Thank you.

I got a receipt from VSC, called I-797C Notice of Action. In that is given the receipt date, priority date and other such information.

I'm wondering this a new estimated time frame for interview schedule or is only for Washington DC area?
My I-797C says "within 180 days" to expect the interview notification

Thanks again and good luck.

It is really fast for you my friend.

Mine is also VSC and lawyer sent it on 29 Dec and was received on 30 Dec in another address ( 921 marshall avenue ) a designated Fedex location in Vermont for all Applications collected to be sent to VSC.

(This is the instruction given to Fedex to collect all N400 Application in their location till some one from VSC receives them. )

Yes you are right. My fedex went to a certain address in Vermont, it was then picked up by VSC. The fedex tracking information was a little confucing at first, so I called Fedex and tehy told me all fedex to VSC are collected at one location. And sure enough it was picked up and processed.

So, has the 180 day wait now become a 90 day wait???

Can anyone confirm??? Maybe I should post a new thread asking this specific question?

Not likely-I had to wait 6 months for fingerprinting.

It is absolutely true that the processing time for Naturalization has been drastically reduced lately (in last 3 weeks) to 90 days in the East Coast. Even in a place like NYC, wherein the processing of N-400 used to take more than one and half year of time a year ago, now the new applications are taking only 90 days. Very impressive. INS is actually determined to their commitment of finalizing the adjudication of applications within 6 months of timeframe by the end of this year.

However, it should be noted that the processing time is just an approximate time because if there would be any complication in the case then this processing time means nothing. Dealing with FBI, other agencies and laziness of assigned officer are also included in the complication factor.

You sound very knowledgeable, can you please let me know what is your take on I 130, I 485 and I765 processing for parents LPR @ Atlanta DO? The receipt notices I received says:
I 130 and I 765 - It is taking between 30 and 90 days for us to process this kind of case.
I 485 - It is taking between 120 and 180 days for us to process this kind of case.

My mum wanna visit her native country sometime during Summer, but we are worried that she might miss her interview appmt, if she leaves the country.

Thanks for your time and helpful comments.

Thanks JohnyCash for your valuble input. I sent my N-400 to VSC in October of 2005, had my fingureprints taken on 16th of November 2005, however i have not heard anything since then.

I also the email notification set up on www.uscis.gov but it has not changed since October 20th 2005. I know my fingurprints were already sent back to USCIS on the 16th of November 2005. Do you think am stuck in a namecheck process? Also is there a way to find out, when i call the 800 number they are just telling me it takes a 360 to 390 days to complete processing of this type of application.

I know a few people with the priority date after mine in the Washington DC area have already gotten a interview letter for late Febuary and early March.
What do you think could be going on with mine. I hope and pray to God its not security check. Any help or advise you or anyone can provide would be greatly appriciated.

Regards

HRH

It depends on the area where you live.A service center(TSC,NCS,CSC or VSC) receives your application and give you an approximate waiting time up to the workload of the District Office to which you belong.

I just received my I797C yesterday and it says I should expect to hear in 365 days! I am unsure how they come up with the processing time

My details
DO: Hartford CT
N400 Sent : 12/21/05

it could be because of different DOs?

your DO is in Hartford CT and the OP's DO is in Wash DC.

what does the online timeline say about your DO?

Hartford DO is currently processing July 15, 2005 cases. That means 6 months processing time

Hartford CT - is taking 4 months

I just received interview notice, my priority date at Hartford CT is Oct,2005.
Fingerprinting notice was received within a month and a month later
notice for interview which is scheduledin feb-2nd. the original notice did
say - 9-12 moths for processing the application, but it actually seems to
be a bit faster.

You should expect fingre-printing directives sometime by the end of january
and prepare for the interview mar-apr timeframe.

Wow, Congrats mrm!! That is real fast! I hope Hartford keeps the pace. My 5 years for GC complete in March. So the whole thing works perfect for me.

Keep us posted with your status

mrm1, Can you please let us know the exact date of your PD and FP. I would appreciate that.

Thanks in advance.
