I do have following questions regarding N400 form:

1. Does the signature should be full name (First Last) in cursive OR it is how it should be while signing the cheque/Driving licence (My official signature is not full and NOT legible)?? As per the instructions "You should sign your full name withoutabbreviating it or using initials. The signature mustbe legible"

This means I should just write my name (first last) in cursive instead of my regular signature?? Please clarify.

2. Wihile filling the residence history can we use mm/yyyy instead of full date (mm/dd/yyyy) in from and to fields ( As I am not sure of exact dates)??

Please clarify!!

Thanks for your time!!

As for the first question: the instructions for part 11 clearly state that one has to write one's full legal name without abbreviations or initials. For most people this will mean they can not use their habitual signature and this may cause some anguish on the part of the signer: after all, is such a "signature" valid and will the fact that it evidently differs from the signature on the check cause problems? I just called the USCIS and with some difficulty elicited a reply that amounts to "whatever the banks accept is their buisness, but we want the name fully written out in a legible manner." Which seems eminently reasonable. I may add that this insistence on unusual "signatures" seems to be a quirk of the US legal system. In my personal experience, for instance, I was not allowed to use my usual signature on the paperwork for my mortgages. Frustrating, but there it is.
As to the second question: why don't you give them a call to make sure? The number is 1-800-375-5283
