N400 - self employed without income for three years

Hello,

I was laid off in Jan/2007, but was lucky to get some money with me. I collected unemployment checks for 6 months and in the end 2007 started my own business.

I don't have any company (inc, llc, anything), but I have invested my money to my business to have the first product ready later this year. I have paid this plus my living from my savings. I have filed taxes every year, but it has been zero income for couple of years. We file jointly with my wife but she has been unemployed most of the time.

It's time to file for N-400 and I have two questions:

1) What do I put to N-400 for 'employer'?
2) How should I prepare for interview? What papers they want to see?

I don't know if your greencard was based on employment. If it's so then I don't know; Otherwise, uscis don't care about your employment...you may put whatever you were doing...student, self-employed, unemployed...it is not a big deal...they won't grill you on that..good luck
