N400 -- Part 8 -- Previous Marriage Question

Hi,

I am filling out the N400 form. I was previously married and now divorced.

Under Part 8 Section F (Information About Previous Spouse) -- Item # 2, I have the following question:

Item 2 (Prior Spouse's Immigration Status): In my case it I have to check off other and state H-4 Visa. This is because my ex-spouse was in H-4 Visa status when we separated.

However when I read the N400 Instructions (Page 5) for filling out N400 it states that I have check other and explain. On the N400 form I checked off other and wrote H-4 Visa. Does putting H-4 Visa here suffice as explanation or do I have to attach a separate sheet for more explanation?

Your short explanation sounds more than sufficient to me.

Incidentally, I would imagine if she was on an H-4 as your dependant, she probably either had to leave the country of seek her own H-1B after your divorce. Not totally sure how that would work...

All you need to mention about her status is-H-4. That's all.

There is no need to explain any further.
