Hi,

When my wife filled out N400, she did not fill Part 1.C (if you have used other names, please provide them below).

She adopted my last name after marriage. We came to USA after our marriage. So in USA, she had never used her last name before marriage.

Now that we are required to carry old passports, marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc to the interview, we are wondering if she made a mistake. Should she write her name before marriage in Part 1.C and bring the corrected application to the interview?

One has the right to change, add, or delete some contents of N400
at the interview

Since the other names used is part of the FBI name check process, will this trigger another name check?
Even when you go for FP, they ask us to fill out a form and it also asks to list all other names used.

guju, that's a good point. My wife had mentioned her other name on FP form. But I am not sure if the IO is going to go by our word. Afterall, we did not have copy of FP form.

Experts, please help!

You can explain during the interview

My wife's name is complicated, and various US agencies has used various spelling of that name. I left all that out when filling out her N-400, and she mentioned them during the interview.

The IO wrote them by hand, and that was it.

Good luck

Wife had her interview. She told the officer about the mistake, and offered revised page. She also told that the other name is mentioned on the FP form. The officer had the FP form in the file with him. He verified that the other name is there, did not take the revised page from my wife, and OKed the application.

Thanks for all the help!

Glad to hear that. Another proof that USCIS is not out there trying to deny/delay us for little things.
