N400 - Name change question, better to change on N400 form or during interview?

Guys,

I am about to send N400 form and willing to change my name but haven't decided yet what name to pick, is it better to wait 1-2 weeks and find a name then send out N400 with new name or can I just answer name change question NO then request name change during interview? will this cause any delay on process?

If you are already eligible I recommend you to send it out now and just decide at the interview. When I had my interview I was given a form at check-in and it asked if I wanted to change my name today (again) so I do not see any benefit for you to wait a few weeks if you can actually do it then.

In terms of delays, I am not a 100% sure but for what I have read is that it does cause a delay, but again every field office has different procedures.

I opted for not changing my name as I did not want to delay the process.

You can also change your name after naturalization but it will not be free. So it's up to you to decide.

Thank you so much, I did name change and sent out the forms from Los Angeles to AZ, I guess I can still change my name at interview if I wish to,
