Hello!
I sent in my N400 application and did the FP on 12/08/11. Meanwhile I have another pending application I-131 for Reentry in case the naturalization process takes too long so i won't miss my trip next month (Army wife sent overseas). Now, I called the Immi and they told me that they just sent a FP notice for the I-131. I know that in a few days they will have the result of the ones I did just last week. What is the process now as far as I'm concerned? Do I wait until I make sure that the status on my N400 change to schedule-Interview (FP received and FBI name checked by then) and call Immi regarding the I-131 to tell them that FP were done in relation with the N400? or should I tell them right now? Will I still need to go to the ASC for photos though? I was wondering if anyone has been through a situation like this one? Thanks for your inputs!

What is the full story of your situation? Is your wife a US citizen? You don't need a reentry permit to return to the US after a trip accompanying your US citizen military spouse, you just need the military papers showing that your spouse was sent abroad and you accompanied your spouse.

But since you applied for it anyway, what is your concern? Your reentry permit and N-400 are two separate cases that will need two separate sets of fingerprints. They're not going to use the I-131 FP for N-400 or vice versa. Calling them to tell them about it will be useless.

Are you applying for expedited citizenship based on section 319(b)?

Thanks Jackolantern for your reply. Sorry if I didn't explain myself really well. I am the wife and hubby is the Army member. I am still in the states and applied N400 under 319 (b) of the INA since I am qualified. A month before I applied for N400, I had already sent my application for I-131 to travel with it. The FP for N400 came earlier than those of the I-131 so I was wondering if I will have to do the biometrics again knowing that they just got mine a week before for the N400? But I see that you said that they can't use the same set for two differents applications and that's what I was just looking to know.

I do have a question though. Why is it that they're saying if you have done your FP for the past year or so, you don't need to do it again? Is this false information? or is it when it comes to the same type of application? just curious.

Immi told me that the I-131 FP notice was sent so I might get it any day now and will go take the FP again then. The only reason I am still doing the RP is so I can travel on time just in case the interview letter for N400 doesn't come before my travel date which is in the next 40ish days and I will just do the interview overseas at a later time. Hope this is a bit clearer :D

That's true only for the exact same application. Once you give FP for one particular application, you won't have to give them again for that same application for at least the next 15 months, unless something went wrong with the original FP. But filing another application would require a new set of FP even if it's the same type of case.

For example, suppose you file N-400, give FP, then withdraw the N-400. 6 months later you refile N-400 ... you'll have to give another set of FP for the new N-400, even though the previous FP was given less than a year ago.
