My grandmother has been a permanent resident since early 1980. She would take short vacation outide U.S. at least once a year since becoming permanent resident, this would nt take more than a month.
but on 2004 she stayed for 6 months in our home country, then came back here. same happened in 2005 and 2006. 6 months she's here in the U.S. 6 months she's in our home country.
my question is, is she eligible to apply now for naturalization? she's been a permanent resident since early 1980, but i'm confused of the days she spent outside the U.S. since it is just recently and if it affects what they say "continuous residence". thank you.

She can apply but will have to prove that she did not intend to abandon her residency in the US since she stayed for more than 6 months outside the country.
