n400 early filing: when to start/and travel outside the US

N400 can be filed 90 days prior to the eligibility day. Taking this into account, how do I report the trips outside the US within the last 5 years? Say, I am eligible on March 1, 2013 and I am filing on December 1, 2012. Do I start my travel log on March 1, 2008 or on December 1, 2007?
Similarly, say I also know I will be out of the country the entire January 2013. Do I include this prospective trip into the travel log?

Thanks

You're supposed to list all trips abroad (of 24 hours or more) since becoming a permanent resident.

There is another question in the same section that asks about days outside the US in the past 5 years. That's where you would take the 5-year restriction into account. Add up the days for 5 years prior to your filing date, not your eligibility date, because that question is for physical presence which only cares about the 5 years leading up to your filing date.

Do not list future trips on the application. After you've taken the trip, tell the interviewer about the trip so they can update your travel history.

Question related to the OP question.

My wife will be filling in a couple of months during the 90 day early filling period. Her eligibility will be based on being marred to a USC and the three year requirement. So when it says list the number of days outside of the US in the last 5 years can we put down in the last 3 yeas since she got her GC or do they also want the two years before when she was a non-immigrant on a G-4 visa?

Yes, for marriage-based applicants the requirement is to count days in the past 3 years not 5 years. They should have updated the form for that.
