Hi All,

My GC was filed by company XYZ, Inc. This company was a division of ABC, Inc. I got the offer letters etc initially (prior to GC approval via XYZ). After I got my GC, I was taken into ABC, Inc (which is parent company). After few months, XYZ was totally merged into ABC and disappeared later.

1. Will this be a problem as the company that processed GC and company in which I have joind are different. I have been with this company (ABC) since 5 years.

2. Do I need to send any documentation for this with N400 application form? OR it's not an issue and can be explained during the interview if asked by the IO?

Please reply.

Put two employment lines, as follows:
- XYZ <start date - GC date>
- ABC <GC date - present> and note that XYZ merged into ABC as of <merger date>

You will be fine.

Thanks eltoro.
But I have never worked in XYZ. I was given offer letter for ABC. When I asked, my HR that time told me that XYZ would be merged into ABC so they were taking me into ABC.

So I have never joined XYZ.

Ahh, I was under impression that before GC you worked for XYZ.

Then just include one line:
ABC <GC date - now>

And, if asked during the interview, explain that XYZ was wholly owned subsidiary of ABC. I would not include anything else with your N400.

If you can find a press release concerning XYZ merging into ABC then print it out and carry it with you to the interview. If not, maybe your HR can issue a document that on <gc date> XYZ was wholly owned subsidiary of ABC.

I wouldn't stress over it - mergers and acquisitions happen every day in US.
