Firstly, let me clarify that I have never been arrested, fingerprinted by the police or photographed by the police for any crime, regardless of whether it's an infraction, misdemeanor or worse.
6+ years ago I was visiting a police officer friend in Chicago and he thought it would be funny to take the personal information off of my CA DL and write me a ticket for urinating in public (or similar, I don't recall exactly). I know, it sounds bizzare, but it's true.
A couple of months later back home in CA I get a letter in the mail from a law firm representing the city of Chicago stating I owe them a fine for the citation which my 'buddy' actually filed with the city. Needless to say I ended up paying the $250.00 fine and never spoke to my 'buddy' again.
Fast forward to 2009 & as of last week I ended up having to reconnect with my 'buddy' to get some clarification on what he actually did with the citation. He has assured me that it was not filed as a misdemeanor and that it's what Chicago PD terms an AdNov or Administrative Notice & that is what I received in the mail from the Law Firm representing the city back in 2002
What is this group's suggestion regarding my N 400 application? I will be eligible to file for Citizenship in a month and don't need to have any issues surrounding my Moral Character etc. I have contacted the Chicago Court System and they do not have any Court Records of me.
When I filed my I-485 application for my Perm Residency 5+ years ago I checked NO on all questions related to criminal history and I didn't have any issues.
Thank you all in advance for your advice.
