The N00 form asks for signature at item number 11 and then again at item number 13. For item number 13 it states clearly that you should NOT sign that now. That should happen only when you are at the interview. However item 11 we need to sign. Does that signature n item 11 have to be a normal signature OR full name spelled out? Please help

Thanks

Going by the provided instructions, we are supposed to write our full name for Part 11. The official instuctions clearly tell us *not* to abbreviate or use initials. So that's your answer.

Things have been made confusing by use of the term 'Signature'. I think this term has been used to denote a cursive style of writing as opposed to writing each letter separately (printing). They could have presented it better by avoiding the term 'Signature'. Please note that 'Signature' does NOT necessarily mean the same as 'Sign your name'. I can go on a long lecture on this topic, but I will stop myself :)

Many people claim (on this forum) to have simply signed their name for Item 11 as they would a check... using initials... with no reported effect on their application. The choice is yours. This is not legal advice by any means.

Regards.

Sammy

It really doesn't seem to matter how you sign part 11 as the IO will get you to sign part 13 with your full name during the interview.

In my opinion I have to agree with Sammy. Here is a link from the USCIS site it's a PDF File called Download N-400 Instructions
It states " After reading the statement in Part 11, you must Sign and date it. You should sign your full name without abbreviating it or using initials. The signature must be legible. Your application may be returned to you if it is not signed.

If you cannot sign your name in English, sign in your native language. If you are unable to write in any language, sign your name with an "X"."

The downloaded file explains how to fill out the whole form.

I hope this helped

Yes, thats what your are _supposed_ to do, but what I'm saying is its extremely unlikely your application will be returned simply because it was signed in shorthand. Either that, or I was just plain lucky...

Hi Boatbod,
:) With my luck I would get it returned because I forgot to dot an i.
Have a great night and Happy New year.
