N400 and Selective service (under 25)

I tried to search in the forum and couldn't find a thread similar to my situation.

I am 23 year male and had my permante resident status for 4 and half year now. I am preparing for the N400 application and realized you have to be registered with selective service system(SSS) to qualify. I remeber getting a letter from SSS when I turned 18, but I don't remember it asked me to take any action. I assumed I am automatically enrolled since I had a immigration status visa. So I am wondering if it is too late to register with the SSS right now for my naturalization process? I am qualified to apply to be naturalized next Spring. This was a honest mistake and I am wondering if I explain myself to the immigration officer, will they deny my case?

Thank you for the help!

You can check whether or not you are already registered with SSS at
https://www.sss.gov/RegVer/wfVerification.aspx

If you received your GC before you turned 18, it is unlikely that the USCIS automatically registered you for Selective Service, but you should certainly double-check with SSS directly.

If it turns out that you are still not registered, you must register immediately, ASAP. It is not a matter of "explaining" that you made an honest mistake, it is a matter of complying with a legal requirement that STILL applies to you since you are still under 26. DO NOT submit N-400 until after you have registered with SSS.
