N-600K - Is my Daughter eligible?

I just became a proud US Citizen this week and would like for my Daughter to become a US Citizen too. Here are the facts:

My Daughter is 5 months old. And lives with her mother (we are married-she doesn't have papers to come to the US yet, and I haven't applied for yet either - for the record my wife is NOT a UK Citizen). I just became a US Citizen in August 2010. My Daughter was born in the United Kingdom (and is a UK Citizen). Can I apply for her to become a US Citizen using the N-600K form?

Any and all responses are much appreciated.

You have to file I-130 for your daughter. 4-6 months for processing and she will acquire US Citizenship upon arrival as a immigrant.

Thanks for the quick reply. Will I need to apply N-600 after her arrival in the US or as you say "she will acquire US Citizenship upon arrival" applies? And how will they give her that Citizenship upon arrival? In the form of a stamp in her passport?

No cheapest and quickest way is to send your Nat'z certificate with the I-551 stamp on her Passport or her GC with the US Passport application and get her a US Passport as a proof right away, N-600 takes much longer and is expensive, and a lot of the people never apply for N-600 anyway and are happy with a US Passport as a proof of Citizenship.

So we'd have to surrender her passport for quite a long time? Can this process be done simply at a US Passport office (like the one in Miami/Houston/NYC etc)?

Just wait for her GC after she comes, it's coming pretty quick in about couple of weeks these days, that way you can keep her British Passport and don't have to send that off.

Great - that is perfect!

So....... once she arrives here, then I'm going to take her, her passport (with the I-551 stamp in there) with my Naturalization Certificate/US Passport and an airline itinerary showing travel within 14 days - with a Passport application form filled out for her (and appropriate fee) to the Passport Office in Miami at 8am - then PRESTO - at 3pm we can pick up her passport. Sound about right?

I have never applied N-600 for my kids and just have their US Passports made with US Passport Cards so we can have two proofs of USC instead of just one.
N-600 takes about six months, a Passport serves the same purpose.

Yeah - I'm not too fussed about the certificate to be honest with you. Just so long as the passport suffices the same purpose (which is does) then hey, why the extra hassle.

Thanks for the prompt replies. Much appreciated.
