Is the N-600 form only used for children under the age of 18?
I am 19 years old and I've been a Permanent Resident since Oct '00 (moved to the U.S in Jan '01)and my dad obtained his citizenship around 98-99. I was looking at some of the other similar threads and some users suggested to apply for U.S Passport instead filing the N-600 form, Do I have the same options or will I have to file the N-400 form?

If you were in the legal and physical custody of your naturalized parent, were under 18 years old and had a green card at some time after Feb 2001 I think you became a citizen automatically. You might apply for a N-600 even if you are now above 18, you might also want to apply for a passport, you will need your father's naturalization certificate, your birth certificate and your Green Card. You might need more documents, so you might ask a passport acceptance agent at a post office or read the passport instructions carefully.

Search the internet for child citizenship act if you would like more information on the automatic citizenship of children.

Thanks for the info, I thought needed to submit the N-600 form first in order to get a Certificate of Citizenship AND then get a passport.

Nope, you can get the passport first and then get or not get the N600. I think it is good to get the N600 as further proof of citizenship with the bureaucracy.
