Huracan,
Thank you so much for your advise. I think my Field office would be Santa Ana.
- BTW what documents are you enclosing with your application? Does your child also hold a US passport?
- How long does it take to receive the certificate?
- Have you applied for OCI for all your family members?
Thanks again for your response.

We have the oath ceremony next week. I forgot what the minimum documents are, but I think it's going to be photocopy of green card, photocopies of naturalization certificates, two passport pictures, probably a photocopy of birth certificate, and I think that's it. Check the instructions anyway. I'd hate to have missed an important document. Photocopies are fine, don't send the original naturalization certificate, they explicitly mention that in the instructions. Translated marriage certificate could be good, but if they already have it from the time of your GC then it is not needed. Perhaps birth certificate is not needed if it was included as part of GC processing. I think they mention in the instructions that if you don't provide a needed document this could cause delay because they'll have to retrieve it from your A-file. So, more documents can make the processing faster.
My child is going to naturalize alongside us through the child citizenship provisions. No, he doesn't have a U.S. passport yet

I'm planning to apply for the N-600 first, then for the passport (wait a second, that doesn't mean I am going to wait for the N-600 to complete before I apply for the passport). I will probably apply for both on the same day, but in that order.
Speed of N-600 depends on local office. It seems that Santa Ana is doing it in around 4 months. At some point you'll have to go with your son to the Santa Ana office for a "sort" of interview, a formality to make sure of his existance and his presence in the U.S.
No OCI, doesn't apply to us
