Hi all,

Could you please point me to the list of documents required to
accompany the N-400 application.

Do we need to send the tax returns, passport copy, mortgage
payments, paychecks and marriage certificate with the
application or they are needed during the Interview ?

Thanks
Sun

Sun,

Documentation requirements is based on your condition. If your case is simple like employment based GC and no problem with law enforcement then its just copy of GC, photos and check. Go throught Citizenship guide at uscis.gov it has complete details with FAQ.

FYI, I am not an attorney. Don't take any action based on my reply, do your own research or talk to an immigration attorney for advice.

Thanks mka.

Mine is a Employment based GC with no major problems with the law enforcement. I haven't made any trip which lasted more than 6 months
outside of US.

From the guide, it looks like I need to sent copy of GC, 2 photos,
N-400 and personal check for 400$. same as what you said in
your email.

Regards
Sun

With respect to the Selective Service.

I got my Green Card when I was 25. I did not know that I need to
register with Selective Service at that time. Now that I am over 26,
I can not register with them anymore.

What should I do with the N-400 application ? Should I just write
a letter explaining that I did not know about Selective Service.

Thanks
Sun

buddy, whats ur d.o....hire a lawyer....sss is not a simple issue....lot of cases have been rejected over failing to register for sss...

Thanks query11.

I am in Sunnyvale, CA. I will be sending my application to
Laguna Niguel, CA.

Actually, if you have your GC between 18 and 26 birthdays
(not 25) then you are supposed to register for SSS.

I called up SSS today and they are going to send me the
Status Information Letter. I will wait for that and then file
it along with my N-400. other than that I can't do much
now since its too late to register for SSS since I am over
26 now.

Thanks

buddy,i am assuming u r a desi..

>>>>>>>>>>>>

Almost all male U.S. citizens, and male aliens living in the U.S., who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service. It's important to know that even though he is registered, a man will not automatically be inducted into the military. In a crisis requiring a draft, men would be called in sequence determined by random lottery number and year of birth. Then, they would be examined for mental, physical and moral fitness by the military before being deferred or exempted from military service or inducted into the Armed Forces.

lot of difference between desi ishtyle of figuring out the age and here....

I am a desi.

It is very confusing. see this website.
http://www.sss.gov/MUST.HTM

Almost all male U.S. citizens regardless of where they live, and male immigrant aliens residing in the U.S., are required to be registered with Selective Service if they are at least 18 years old but are not yet 26 years old. Men who are 26 years old and older are too old to register.

So, if one is on gc between 18 and 26th birthdays then he has to register
for SSS.

Example: In my case I was born in August 1976, I got my GC in September
2001. I am not into 26 yet when I got my GC, I was supposed to register
but I didn't know about it.

got it. sorry for the confusion rey.

In a nutshell, based on my dates let me know if you disagree to
the fact that I should have registered with SSS.
