Would anyone share their N-400 experience in Orlando, FL? My N-400 details are:

PD: 5/8/03
FP: 6/13/03
Interview/Oath: Waiting to Hear....

It seems like Orlando office is one of the slowest in Florida. I found the following processing dates for Florida DO on the USCIS website (Updated" 6/16/04).
Orlando - 01/24/03
Jacksonville - 4/9/04
Tampa - 9/15/03
Miami - 4/11/03
West Palm Beach - 11/10/02

I scheduled an online appointment and went to the USCIS office today to find out the processing dates. It's funny when I asked about my application, the gentleman looked it up in the computer and said it's still in TSC. Orlando office has only got applications with the PD of April 2003. When I pressed to ask about what priority dates they are currently inviewing the applicants for. He went inside and said that he talked with one of the officers and they are currently interviewing applicants with the PD of May 2002.

This left me comletely confused! Well, I showed him the printout from the USCIS website that had the N-400 PD of 01/24/03. After that he had a blank look on his face. But luckily at that time the Orlando sub-office chief was walking by and this gentleman asked him while I was standing. Guess what, the Orlando office is processing the N-400 applications with the PD of March 2003 now. Since I have a PD of 5/8/03 and Orlando sub-office chief said I should hear in August. Luckily I got served at the Orlando office.

Hope it helps the others who have a pending N-400 applications at Orlando office.

N-400 experience in FL

Does anyone on the list have N-400 experience in Orlando, FL or anywhere in Florida? My N-400 details are for Orlando are:

FD: 6/13/03
Interview/Oath: Waiting to Hear....

MY timeline in Jacksonville, FL

PD: Aug 2003
FD: Oct 2003
ID: May 24th, 2004
OD: ??? (INS God is not yet ready for me. I mean waiting anxiously)

Good luck - Jax2004.

You happened to apply from the fastest DO in Florida. From the processing dates, Jax is the best place to apply from. Hopefully, Orlando DO will start making some progress soon. I am still wating for an interview after applying from Orlando 14 months ago!

How often do they have oath ceremonies in Jax? It's so ridiculous that each of these DO's have even differnet practices/policies for oath ceremonies. A friend of mine got both the interview and the oath done on the same day in Buffalo. I just don't understand why don't these DO's offer a choice to an individual to either take the oath the same day, if all is clear; or if one prefers the hoopla of mass oath ceremony (which is just PR exercise) then take the oath on a fixed day of the week or the month. I guess that would make way too much steamlining of their business processes!!!!!!

The interviewing officer told both me and my wife (she was interviewed right after me by the same guy) that because oath ceremonies are held once a month right here in the INS Office, hopefully you don't have to wait too long
Whatever that meant. The surprising thing is two of friends had their interviews in March and April and had their oaths in April and May. Since we interviewed in May I thought we could be done with the Oath in June. But I was so wrong.

We paid a visit to the INS office on 28th June and found out that our files just went to the scheduler (around June 28th) but she still hasn't scheduled us for Oath.

The way JAX Office is showing the N-400 processing dates, I feel without a doubt that those are Oath letter processing dates.

I completed understand your frustation but believe me it will happen sooner or later.

Keep me posted about your progress and I will do the same. Take care and hand in there

Jax2004,

Keep me posted when get the letter for oath. BTW, how was your interview experience in Jax? I haven't had luck finding anyone on this list with Orlando experience so far. I have thought about relocating to Jax service area to expedite the processing. Since I am with 3-4 months of processing dates that Orlando DO is listing, I decided to hold off.

From Orlando's processing dates (01/24/03) is seems like these are the PD dates. I have been monitoring these dates for the past 4-5 months. The dates is Orlando didn't move at all during Feb. and March, then jumped 2 to 2 1/2 months each in April and May, then only 13 days in June, and now in July there was no movement at all. This leads me believe that may be Orlando DO does NOT even report the processing dates every month.

I am looking forward to the day when this all over!

Our interview experience was great. The immigration officer was done with me in like 10 minutes and even though he had somebody right after me and before my wife, he asked me if my wife was waiting in the waiting area. When I said yes, he interviewed her right after me. She was out too in 10 minutes.

So now its just a waiting game. Now if our files are with the scheduler who still hasn't scheduled us for oaths(May be she is working on our files as I write this...), I can only guess that they must be clearing the backlog. Jacksonville INS serves about 34 counties out of a total of 67 counties in Florida.

Anyways I will keep you posted. GOOD LUCK

And Finally one Oath letter received...

Today we received the Oath letter for wife. When the information officer had told us that the file is with the scheduler on June 28th, she had checked the systems on my A number. We were assuming that my wife's file is also with the scheduler. Well we assumed right.

Wife interviewed on the same day May 24th 2004 as me and right after me and is now scheduled for Oath on July 31st 2004 10:00am at the local INS here.

Please pray for me guys that I get my Oath letter tomorrow or by this week.

Jax2004,

Congratulations. Hopefully you would also receive the oath letter in a day or so. Keep me posted how it goes. Good luck!

N 400 process for Females are lil faster and problem free...i have read couple of posts husband and wifes...where wife gets naturalized fast and husbands get stuck...i hope this is not the case with you.

I think females names are not run in FBI's name check database, i know my three cousins two females and one male... went to interview same month and two females had their oath with in 10 days of interview and my male cousin had to wait 5 months i think for his oath letter, and that was in new york.

PLUS...i would like to see any female who has problem with name check, or is been waiting for oath for long time... i guess none.

***i should have changed my sex before applying for naturalization*** khee khee khe khe khe.

Hi Jax2004,

How did the oath ceremony go on 7/31?

The Oath Ceremony was very well organized. Everybody congratulating us. Right from the security guard to the officers. It was done at the local INS Office here. They had 4 ceremonies that day. 8:00am, 10:10am, 12:00pm and 2:00pm.

Ours was at 10:00am. We were there by 9:40am and were out at 10:40am. We have already applied for our passports this past monday with expedited service and now we are just waiting on that.

So any progress with your application.

Jax2004,

Congratulations!! I am glad to hear your great experience at the Oath ceremony. I still haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully the immigration gods will be available to help me in the near future. Thanks.

Orlando N-400 Timeline - What's going on?

I just saw the August 11 processing dates update, and feeling extremely frustrated and completely confused. Orlando timeline for N-400 has been moving backwards by months with each monthly update.

Here are the the processing dates for Orlando reported monthly for the past 6 months:
March 2004 Processing Dates for N-400: 08/03/02
April 2004 Processing Dates for N-400: 10/18/02
May 2004 Processing Dates for N-400: 01/11/03
June 2004 Processing Dates for N-400: 01/24/03
July 2004 Processing Dates for N-400: 01/24/03
August 2004 Processing Dates for N-400: 10/18/02

What does this mean? Any ideas what's going?

I have a PD of May 2003. Anyone from Orlando, who has had an intereview or oath, please share your experience.

Thanks.
