Hi,

Since I feel this site helped me a lot to prepare for my citizenship interview I would like to share my experiences with you. I live in Westchester County the northern suburb of NYC and I have my green card since 3/00. I have not used an attorney for my N-400 though I used one for my I-485.

Timeline:

N-400 pd June 4 2005 (Vermont Center)
Fingerprints July 6 2005 (New Rochelle, NY)
took 15'on computer, several finger pictures had to be retaken 2-3 times, but it was fast, no waiting
Interview letter 8/2005 for 9/2/2005
Interview September 2 2005 (NYC Federal Plaza)
Oath letter after interview
Oath TBD September 7 2005 (Westchester Court, White Plains, NY)

Interview:

I was scheduled for 10.40 a.m. and I arrived around 10.05 a.m. Nice, large (100+ capacity) waiting room, about 35 people in so there was plenty of space. Got called about 10.35 a.m.
Interviewer was very curt, no small tal just q&a. He asked for my passports and green card and he had my green card folder in front. Asked 8 questions from the BCIS list (do not know why 8 not 6 since I got them all), put me to write 2 propositions, read a little and sign my photos. The only extra thing he asked for was a copy of my second marriage certificate. He had the first one in the gc folder, and I sent in my divorce papers with N-400. He then went
through the N-400 questions. When he asked me to sign the Oath of Allegiance I tought I was approved which was a big relief since he was so curt... But he then went 2-3 more times through my gc folder checking things on a form in front of him. Finally he gave me back my documents and he told me to wait outside for my oath letter. The interview took 15' but they were very tense. Then I waited about 10' and got my oath letter. By 11 I was out of there
I hope this helps and thank you again for this site which was tremendously help
