N-400 Questions

I have some questions about my N-400 application, as i am getting ready to apply on Sept'07

- I visited india in May 2006 for 10 days. I don't see any record in the passport in terms of the arrival stamp at US POE. But, i kept the record and specify those dates in the application. I heard somebody saying in the forum that IO will do one-on-one match from passport to the application?? Whether this will create any problem?? or do i need to get any proof??

- In my GC the first-name(Given name) and last-name has been interchanged. I believe in GC the format they use is last-name, Given-name. In my GC it is Given-name, last-name. Do i need to correct my name in the application ??. As per instruction for N-400 application, it mentions that we need to print however it is in GC. I don't want to create any unnecessary delay in the process

Thanks for your help!!

In my opinion, truthfulness is much more important than consistency. If they forgot to stamp your passport, list the dates anyway (remember, they still might have (or probably did) scan your passport at the POE).

Sorry, I don't know anything about name issues. You might consider adding an additional sheet explaining your situation.

You might want to correct your green card. Instructions below:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/us...toid=b3f7ab0a43b5d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD
"If your card was issued with incorrect data due to USCIS administrative error, you must mail a new I-90 application using Application Reason "d" My card was issued with incorrect information because of a USCIS administrative error, and any supporting documentation, to the USCIS Service Center/National Benefits Center(NBC) that processed the application/form from which the incorrect card was created. Check the envelope that your I-551 permanent resident card came in to find the mailing address of the Service Center/NBC that mailed you the card. The Service Center/NBC address can also be found on the I-797 "Notice of Action" issued for the application from which the incorrect card was created. In addition to the new I-90 application, applicants are required to send the original I-551 card containing incorrect information, plus the supporting documentation for the requested correction. A replacement application based on a USCIS administrative error must also include an explanation.
There is no fee required. Total filing fee - $0."

I had a friend who got his name corrected in GC for a typo. I am not sure what is the delay now. I am curious why you did not correct it 4 years ago ?

I don't remember ever getting any stamps in my passport at the US port of entry when I traveled using GC. But in India they do stamp your passport during both departure and arrival. I have used those dates to figure out when I left the US and returned for each trip.

Thanks for all your replies!! Its my mistake, i guess i didn't verify the format of the name earlier. when i got my GC i thought that they are printing Given name, Lastname.

Do anybody know, how long it will take to correct this one!! If it takes long time, how about continuing with the name as listed in the GC and correcting it later after getting Citizenship?? Any thoughts!!

That will not work because your name is written in the right format in all your other supporting documents (might want to confirm this): Passport, Tax returns, H1B, EAD etc.

Your best bet is to correct the GC card.

For the time line, you might want to pose this question in the other forum: Life after GC, etc.
