N-400 Priority Date?

Hi all,

Please shed some light on this:

My N-400 filed at TSC has a notice date and receipt date of July 16, 2004. However, when I received my fingerprinting notice, it listed a priority date of September, 2000.

What does this mean? Why is there a discrepancy between the notice/receipt dates and the priority date? How does the priority date come into picture in an N-400 case? Any implications of this?

In my case when I received my FP Notice I had RD and PD as April 19, 2004 but my Notice Date was Feb 20, 2000
So that means in our cases is it typo??
