I read in some threads that we should answer yes to this question if we have had traffic tickets no matter how long ago but does it matter to be accurate in the chart for simple Moving violation or speeding tickets? What if we have no record of old violations? Does the DMV archive old records?

Hi there!

I have one citation for "failure to obey highway sign" which I did not list in my original N-400. I prepaid the fine and have all the documentation to proof it. I did not list it after chatting with the lawyer who did my wife's H1B premium processing a in 2003.

I will bring it up during the interview should he/she asks "have you ever been arrested, cited etc. etc.". Like others have said, unless you have beaucoup tickets, a DWI/DUI, felony convictions, reckless driving ticket etc. I would not worry about it too much. They do not seem to really care too much about MINOR infractions. Just make sure you have documentation once you are interviewed that tickets were paid etc. I have never EVER heard of anybody being denied for not having stated MINOR traffic tickets on the submitted N-400.

Just my two cents....

Best,
Nico
