N-400 missed employer

Hi, Interview is coming up and we discovered an omission on the N-400.

My spouse got a labor based GC from sponsor company B while working for its affiliate, company A, which has the same address and a similar name. About 50 days after getting the GC, said employer moved her to company B , where she remained for 2 years. The job remained virtually unchanged, same location, manager, duties. Only difference was the name of company B on W2.

Problem is that when filling the N-400, she forgot to mention company B and put company A as the employer for the entire time. We found this error when preparing for the interview and collecting all the old W2's and paychecks.

1. Obviously she should mention this during the interview?
2. What reason should be given for the omission? Which documents should be presented? Are paychecks and W2 enough?
3. Can she expect tough questions due to the fact that company B was the sponsor?
4. Are there any other risks?

Thanks!

Simply provide the information at the interview. They don't penalize applicants for incorrect/missing details like this on the N-400, as long as the correction is provided at the interview. She doesn't need to give a reason for the omission.

Since B is the sponsor and she went to work for B soon after GC approval, she won't have face tough questions about the job change.

Does A own B or vice versa? If yes, she can mention that fact.

I agree with JackoLantern. We had an interview yesterday and we also had some changes to make in the N-400. The date for entry/exit was incorrect in one place. My wife voluntarily pointed out the mistake on the N-400 to the IO. The IO then corrected the information based on inputs from my wife. I do not think it is an issue at all. Make sure this is rectified before you sign the N-400.

If the GC is labor certificate based, change has to be within the scope of labor certificate. the UCSIS citizenship IOs don't cares
even if you changed to a complete new employer with diffwerent job

Just came back from the interview. She passed! No issues whatsoever, told the IO about the correction and that was it. Ceremony will be on 4th of July!

Our advice to all who are going to the interview - be prepared, be focused. Practice the civics questions, practice your application form questions, be prepared for any changes that you want to make in the application. Be prepared - know the law, know the facts of your case, have all documents ready. If you make concise and clear arguments you will pass. Good luck to all.

Thank you forum members for the great advice! It gave us all the confidence we needed to apply for naturalization.

And to all you anonymous USCIS officers - know that you have a great job, because every day you have a chance to make many people really happy.
