Hi,

I have a question about what to fill in part 7 section C.
I got GC in in Nov,17, 2007

My wife went to India in Aug 6 2007 and returned back in Jan 5 2008.

My question is what to fill in Part 7 sect C.

Date Left : Aug 6 2007
Date Returned : Jan 5 2008
Total Days outside US : 53 ( but actual date difference is more than 153 days)
but section C asks days outside only when you got GC ?

When counting days in and out of the US, do not count the time spent before becoming a permanent resident.

And if your wife's first day within the US as a green card holder was 5 Jan 2008, it's too early for her to apply for citizenship now.
 
Your days of being outside the US after becoming a green card holder is important while applying for citizenship. And as pointed out in the previous post, it will be too ealry to apply for US citizenship now, give the date of becoming a permanent resident. Filing in earlier than the stipulated time will lead to your application getting rejected.
