Just want to double check the filing fee, it's 330 dollars now plus 70 fingerprint for a total of 400, correct? And I can make this out in ONE check?

Also, what is the recommended form of mailing the N-400 to the service center?

Thank you!

Yes, 400 bucks...in one check...or two checks...or 10 checks. Whichever way you want to do it ;-). You can use USPS or a private carrier (UPS, FedEx, DHL). I used USPS and was not too happy with their 'service'. Second business day in USPS terms apparently means we get it there when we feel like it. It took them SIX business days to ship it from Virginia to Vermont  As far as I am concerned, a private business beats USPS any day.

Cheers!

Ok. Will there be someone available to sign for the package though, if I send it UPS/ FEdex or the like?

Thanks!

Also, to sum up, cause it seems really simple...

I answered "no" to all the criminal questions, so nothing else to explain...

So are the only things I ahve to send out..

1. The N-400 form
2. 2 passport pics with name/ A number on back in pencil
3. copy of front/ back green card?
4. 400 dollar check

Seems real simple for some reason, thanks!

Guys remember FedEx does not accept mail which is sent to PO Boxes!!!
So, fedex is not an option. I am not sure about UPS and DHL, but I have a feeling, they also do not deliver to PO Boxes.
You best bet would be USPS next day delivery or certified mail/return receipt.

I used DHL. Look up the USCIS website, they provide an actual street address for private courier companies.

I just sent my application via regular mail and it got there with no problem, and no worries about people signing for it, or not signing, or taking two or three attempts to deliver. Your cancelled check is your best proof of delivery. I wouldn't waste more time and money on it.

My 2 cents towards the post stamp ;)

Thanks guys.

One more question:

One of the forms said to write my A number on the BACK of the check? So do I just write it in the Endorsement lines?

I would suggest writing your A number on the front of the check in the memo line.

Some folks who had written their A number on the back of their cheque had some issues where USCIS sent their application back stating that the check was endorsed.

I wrote my A number on the front and had no problems.

Why dont you just follow the instructions? And when something is not specified in the instructions or on the form, it is probably because they dont care how you do it. Just use common sense and dont do weird things like mailing your application in three separate parts using three different mail carriers.

If you want to waste your money, you can always fly to vermont first class, take a room in the most expensive hotel, put on a 1000$ tuxedo and arrive at the INS location in a limo to hand-deliver it to the service center. But, it is not going to help move your case any faster -- in the grand scheme of things, the 1 or 2 days mail time that you save is not going to matter much.

I did USPS regular mail with return receipt .Worked like charmed. They delivered it the next day.Which was ealrier than what I had expected.

I sent it Certified Mail with return receipt (getting that green receipt in the mail is very gratifying). It only took a day or two for it to get to the USCIS, but it took another 3 days for them to date stamp it and send it back.

Remember, in your N-400 calendar, days don't really matter, months do.
