N-400 Continuous residence question

Hi,

I am GC holder since May 2001 and am planning to apply for citizenship.

I see one exception.
- My work involves long stays outside state of my legal residence but always within mainland US.
- I have always filed federal taxes as resident but filed state taxes as non-resident (including the state of my legal residence).
- I have consistently used my legal address for my tax filings.

The N-400 (Part-10 Additional Questions, Section-C Continuous Residence) has 2 questions relevant to this.
13. Have you ever called yourself a "non-resident" on a Federal, state or local tax return? - YES in my case
14. Have you ever failed to file a Federal, state or local tax return because you considered yourself to be a "non-resident"? - NO in my case

My question:
Will answering "YES" for #13 above make my citizenship processing more difficult or impossible?

Regards.

Non-Resident defination

For the state tax ... it always happens that one files returns from new re-located state for the earlier state.... I don't think that is 'Non-Resident'.

USCIS is looking for 'Non-US' resident status. As long as you were in US , it should be ok.

This is my opinion and not legal advice.

Thanks
