I will be eligible to apply for Citizenship in the month of June 2008, while going through the N 400 form, I need a clarification on Part 7 - C i.e. List below all trips taken outside of US since becoming LPR.

My Perment Status as per Green Card starts from June 12 2002, however I have applied for Re entry permit and left USA in Nov.02 and came back in the year June 2004, do I need to mention the dates when I am in India during the Re entry period, if so, then will it effect Part 7 (a) how many total days did you spend outside the USA during the past 5 years, here 5 years starts from 2003, because I am eligible to apply in June 2008.

Can some one help me to fill the column in the form.?

Thanks in Advance

Narayana

You need to list all your trips since becoming an LPR. In this instance, that also includes your long trip to India.

I assume you are applying for N-400 under the 4yrs+1day rule, which puts your eligibility date somewhere around June 2008? If so, you simply count back 5yrs from then, in order to determine the number of days you were outside the US during the physical presence window. If you apply later than June 2008, you simply slide the 5yr window up accordingly.

You are right I am applying under 4 Yrs +1 day rule and under this I am eligible on June 16 2008. As per you, if i count back 5 years from June 16 2008 that come June 16 2003, do I need to mention that I am outside USA for the period? I appreciate if you can high light on this, I stuck on this point while preparing the N 400. Do I need to take Attorney help in filing my application, or is it OK if i apply myself?

Thanks
Narayana
