My wife and I apply seperately or together?

5 years have passed since we got green card in Maryland.
so, decided to apply for citizenship?

We filled the application forms, but don't know if we need to apply seperately (in a seperate envelope) or together (1 envelope with both the applications).
Or do we need to put 2 different envelopes (with both of our applications) inside one big envelope?

The reason is that my wife doesn't work and the documents required include mortgage statements (on which there is no reference of her) and pay stubs (which she doesn't have).

Not that I will not go thru the whole process, but, do you know what is the fee per person for N-400? and where do I send the forms/documents if I'm in Baltimore, MD?

Thanks a lot!

I sent it in two separate envelopes, but I think it is also a good idea to put each application in an envelope, and then both of them inside a third one as you said. I would keep the applications separate to avoid having documents applied to the wrong application.

Read the required documents carefully. Are you sure you need those mortgage statements or pay stubs? Regular straightforward 5 year based N-400 doesn't require this type of documents. Your wife not working shouldn't have any importance for N-400.

Can someone else tell him what is the service center that corresponds to Baltimore, MD. ?

I have to run to my own oath ceremony.

Good luck.

Hi,
I was also got confused when I wanted to send our n-400. I went through all this forms but its made me more confused. So, finally I decided to send together in one cover but two separate packages in one cover.

Why do you need to enclose mortage papers I dont understand. Just read the instructions. 1. Application,2. two-Photos.3.Photo copy of Green Card 4. Checks. Dont send unncessary papers.

When you sign on N-400 you have to sign full signature no initialls. first name and last name.

We received our receipts side by side numbers. Dont worry people say 100 different things but you have to decide which is the best way to send.

go ahead and good luck.

this is the address you have to send

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services,
Vermont Service Center,
75 Lower Welden St.
Saint Albans, Vermont 05479

thank you, all.

Thank you all. I will check how much is the fees later.
the only reason I said mortgage statements and pay stubs is that I read on immihelp.org website.

I can only think of two reasons someone might want to send mortgage docs:-
(i) they are applying based on marriage to a USC, and want to prove joint payment or something similar.
(ii) they have a long absence from the US, and are trying to prove they kept close ties and a residence in the US.

Since you definitely don't fall in category (i), and you didn't mention anything about (ii), you probably shouldn't send anything extra.
