My wife who is a Filipino citizen and myself a US citizen had to travel to the Philippines in February 2006 because my wife's mother and brother died. My wife also has a 7 year old daughter which these 2 people have been watching. We filed for an I-30 in August 2004 and have yet to hear from immigration. We received her passport. We then went to Manilla and of course had to wait in line. We finally went thru (Window 44, as they say it) and I talked with a repersenative. I told her and I had the death certificats that the brother of my wife who had been keeping my daughter had died and she was then given to her mother, who died a month later. There was no other family we could leave her with. I was asking for a visa to allow her into the US and then we could finish her papers.
This Filipino lady who was sitting behind the window said to me "There is nothing I can do. NOTHING. I am an American Citizen, I lead a good life, I pay my taxes and all she could say was Nothing!!!!
We had to leave her with a friend who already had 17 kids. What kind of a future can my child look forward to.
