Finally, it's my turn! Receive approval notice today in mail.

It had been a very rocky journey for me. Applied for I-485 in 2001. Then became unemployed for many months. Received RFE while unemployed. Finally got an offer from a big company just in time for RFE submission. Redid fingerprint 3 months after RFE and then waited another 4 months. Still not heard from BCIS. Wondering if my case was transfered or denied due to problem with tax returns. Wrote an inquiry letter to BCIS all by myself with a follow-up phone call. Two weeks later my case was approved and now receive approval notice.

So, for those who are/were unemployed for few months, don't give up hope. If I get approved, so do you! Just be honest with BCIS and you will be fine.

Good luck to you all!:)

Congrats.

You deserve it after the long wait. Can you plz post the your RFE details and how u handled unemployment.

Seems like a few members are very interested in how I handle the unemployment. Here is the details:

I was unemployed for about 6 months and during which I received RFE asking for employment letter, 2 payrolls, 2 years tax returns. Since I had 3 months to reply to RFE, I continued looking for job and finally received an offer right before RFE deadline. So, I responsed to RFE by sending BCIS an employment letter from my new employer, 1 payroll, and 2 years tax returns with a very very low annual salary. My lawyer attached a standard letter saying something about employment portability. He did not even wrote a letter to address my unemployment and low tax returns. So, I was just being honest and gave whatever I had in responding to RFE. I believe that as long as one could proof he/she has a job and is not going to be a public charge, he/she should be fine.

As for the inquiry letter, I didn't even keep a copy because it was just a straight forward letter with my EAC# and a few sentences saying I had responsed to RFE a few months ago and was still waiting and hoping the officer could review my case at his convinence. That's it. Nothing fancy, really. My lawyer didn't even know the inquiry because he never really helps.

I hope I answers the questions regarding unemployment. Again, just be honest and good day will come.
