Dear Friends,
I just wanted to let you know about my recent travel to Iran using AP. I first came to USA based on F1 visa in 2002 and then I changed my status to H1 in 2005. I only had the H1B approval and no H1 visa in my passport. I also never left the country before. I traveld with Turkish Airline.
Because of NSEERS ruls, I had to show up at the CBP office at the Port of Departure (Chicago) so I got stamped my passport. The process took only 15 minutes and the officer stapled my I-94 forms (the original and the H1 approval) to the airline ticket and asked me to hand over my I-94 forms at the departure gate. He also stamped the passport.
Upon return, in Tehran airport and Istanbul airport I was asked to show my Advance Parole. The officers were all knew about the AP, so i didnt have to explain them the AP process.
Upon return, I filled a new I-94 form (the white color) and put the date of my F1 visa for one of the questions that was asking about the "date of issued visa".
At the Port of Entry, I just showed one of my AP forms (I had two of them). The officer stamped the form and wrote AOS (adjustment of Status) on my new I-94 form. He asked a few questions: who has petitioned your application? What is your job? What is it related to? How long have you been in the US? Is it your first trip?
Then he returned my AP form and welcomed me to the US. I wasnt required to do any finger printing or whatsoever.
That was it!
Wish you all a happy safe trip using AP.

Thanks,
Reza
