Hi, I have been waiting almost 7 years now and my priority date is about to be current

Im from south america

Im older than 21, unmarried and my priority date is Dec 26, 2006... now is Oct 26, 2006... so in about to be current.

When I filed my i-130 in 2006, I put both my parents address here in the US and my address in south america.

One question, do I have to file my next step in my country? is there a way i can do it directly in the US?

I have been going back and forth all these years, never overstaying my tourist visa time...

My priority date will be current either January or February... what do you guys recommend me to do?

Thanks

???

One of your parents filed an I-130 for you. You can't file your own I-130.

When your priority date is current you could apply for adjustment of status in the US, but doing that would risk being denied for using a tourist visa to enter the US with immigrant intent. Spouses, parents, and under-21 children of US citizens are usually treated leniently on that, but you're over 21 so you can't count on that leniency.

It might be current in January or February. The dates can freeze for several months or even move backwards, so there is no guarantee of being current early next year.

So what should you do now? Gather supporting documents such as your birth certificate, parents' marriage certificate (if they're married), and vaccination records. Apply for a passport if you don't have one, or renew it if it's about to expire. Then wait for the consulate to contact you after your PD becomes current.

Thanks for your answer

My Father did. Yes, I understand that I may not be current until they decide so... but when it does, can I do everything in the US? I can enter with a tourist visa and do it there or do I have to wait for the consulate to contact me in Venezuela? Can i apply for the i-485 entering the us?

By doing it in the US it might be faster

I have all the necessary requirements already, all I need is my priority date to be current

Thanks for your help!
