Manager: So your Green Card is approved?
Me: No its been like 3 yrs now
Manager: how long is it gonna take?
Me: God Knows...

Manager: (Totally ignorant of GC and Immigration process)
So what is Green Card?
Me: Smilling...well..its suppose to be green i think and I can stay in this god damn place.
Manager: But you can do that on H1 too.
Me: Yes temporarily...
Manager: Oh then after that...
Me: Supposedly my green card with come...

I was thinking if he asks again When is it gonna come i am gonna slap his face.

Was thinking "You gora..you are lucky not be worrying about all these shitty process...

Probably it is a good idea

to explain the process to your manager. Like you said, lots of people at work (people who matter) are ignorant of the travails that we guys go through. Educating them on these things might help, (esp. in critical times like when some manager has to prepare a 'hit-list' in his/her department). Of course, the other side is some sadistic manager might use it in a way harmful to you, but by and large it will have a positive effect I guess.

I had my one on one with the exec director today. I did not mention anything about my GC to him and I don't think he knows that I have applied for my GC. Not that he would misuse it.. I am fine with my manager knowing about it. He understands the shit I'm going through.

Actually this was a small antedoe and i found it funny myself... Even if I explain him what it mean...he will go home..have dinner and forget about it....so let him be ignorant while i wait for my approval.....

If he choose to stand at BCIS and protest for me ...i will explain him everything whole heartedly...:). right now neighter he can do anything about it or I can...Even we sign petitions or what ever...BCIS is an elephant who will walk on its own pace...regardless of anything...

It's not that they don't understand about GC, it's just they don't want to. If you can pronounce their names, understand their culture, lifesytle,..... why can't they pronounce our name, doesn't understand our problems or issues,............it's just a matter of their ignorance.

Agreed Edison. More specifically it a "dont care" attitude
mixed with arrogance. More Indians in highschool are
aware of US then more americans even in college are aware
of India. In the end you will see it all boils down to MONEY
and economic food chain.
