Just want to share with you guys that my NIW case approved yesterday. It was receive 09/03/2005 in CSC concurrent with 485. One LUD from 01/21/2006 and another 01/24/2006 with approval email.

However, I didn't receive any finger print notice for my 485 application. I am from a regression contry. Does it mean that my 485 won't be approved till my priority date is current, which I guess will take several years?

COngratulations!
don't worry FP notices do come some time late (even after 6 months).
EB2 is progressing slow but steadily. Its true I485 for retro country are somewhere in 2001-2002....but is expected to move steadily ....

thx. My understanding is that if i apply for EAD and AP, then it is not a log difference from GC holder except that i need to apply for them every year. Also I can switch jobs if necessary since NIW is not company supported? Is it right?

There are already plenty of profiles posted. I tend to think profile is not as important as the timing and presentation skill. You can see very strong people got rejected 2004 when it was hard or very "weak" got approved this year. Right now is probably a good time to file NIW. I feel if one meets the basic requirements of NIW, the best stragegy is to present oneself medorately without too much stretch. Also it is best for you to let the recommender to write the letters themself, or at least got the idea from them of what they think of you before you draft yourself if they ask you for a draft. Simply using the model recommendation letters will cause you trouble, or at least easily detectable by the auditors or the refusals from the recommender.

Of course, if one does not meet the basic requirement, you got to stretch here and there :) In this case I suggest if you have time and haven't finish the PH.D work, you may try to concentrate on your research first. After all, I guess in the next 3 to 5 years, US will loose its immigration policy for legal immigrants.

Just for reference, I got a Ph.D in a so-so state university last year, 7 publications (2 top journals), 2 presentation in the area, 7 recommendation letters (3 from people interested in my work during my presentation and 1 from a NASA project that I worked for).
