This is regarding my wife new h1 stamping at Mumbai.
It was all nice and easy like 1-2-3. We went to consulate Dec 11. There is nice
seating facility at consulate. My wife was on H4 before. We had her new H1 done in
Apr 2001. She had been working since then. So we had all necessary docs like
Current Emp letter, Pay stub, etc. We went to India in Dec 2001.
Officer at consulate was very nice. They looked at some of my wife\'s paper casually and
they talked about is general like how r u and how do u like US and stuff like that. Then
he asked to pay the fees and collect the passport following day at 3.00 PM. We reached
consuldate at 8.30 AM and we were out by 11.00 AM. Next day we collected passport from the
consulate. While entering US, INS officer just looked at VISA stamp and issued new I 94.
He did not even bother to se H1 petition and things like that.
Moral : If you have proper documentation should not worry about stamping.
