A trillion thanks for your unflinching support to the community of interested members here certainly seeking help with different immigration situations. First excuse me for this long story. I'm here testifying that having attended my interviews for I-485 petition on April 20, 2011 based on my US citizen wife who filed I-130, my case has been successfully approved as of May 3, 2011.

I think this has been one of the fastest cases worth sharing. Hope it gives someone some the much needed hope even as the cloud seems dark some times.

February 20, 2011: My petition was filed through attorney
March 8, 2011: Finger prints done
March 15, 2011: Combo card as EAD with I-512 as Travel permit received
April 20, 2011: I-485/ I-130 interviews taken
May 3, 2011: Case approval.

Entered the US as an F-1 student some 13 years ago but after Graduating, I fell out of status but picked up a job where I was paying tax and Social security. I never changed my address until marrying a US citizen in September 2010. In the interviews when asked if I had a state issued Drivers License and SS #, I affirmatively said yes sir I do but did not come with them to the interviews.

The IO grilled my wife for filling her tax under the single status. She accepted the omission on the fact that she had earned her money when she was still single but making amends for her 2011 tax calendar year respectively. The IO then turned on me asking if I had filed my tax yet, I said I need to make some amendment with IRS and hasten to mention that i have been working for the time of my school and after Graduating.

At that point we were separated and grilled separately with our lawyers seating behind us. The IO asked if I had Graduated, I said yes with 2 college degrees which I had shown him. After all this we were told to expect hearing from them shortly.
Outside our attorney applauded us for doing a good job but found us with one inconsistency on how often we visit her mother. She said every day which is true for her while I said every Sunday after church which is true for me The attorney then said that is typical of very honest people but overall he was impressed. His concern was that the IO grilled me on our bank statement found with little balance, no direct deposit going in despite working and of course few activities besides the fact that those few activities were on my debit card and not hers.

The toughest was when he said most of the account activities since January to this month of April, 2011 were done by you some 400 miles away from your wife in your former city of residence. Why and how this is odd? My wife responded that I go there every month end to visit with my only daughter as an arrangement to support her though daughter living with her mother. Actually this is the issue that led to separating us possibly for fraud interviews mode. Fortunately, the marriage is genuine and we have been open to each other.

The IO then said we should be hearing from them shortly. When we got home we immediately worked on our taxes by amending to married filing jointly then mailed them to IRS.

SUMMARY:

-Truth and only truth sets one free. Never lie to the IO
-In interviews be composed and be to yourself
-Eye contact very important
-Body language speaks much
-Don’t over dress but be decently dressed
-Show love and respect to your wife when entering the interview room. Give seat to wife first then yourself
-Don’t help her during interviews
-When exiting get her in front but opens the doors for her.
Take to the interviews every document you have to your name and petition.
