Hi All,
I am back to tell you my story.
The interview was scheuled for 3 pm. Our lawyer and we decided to meet at 2:30 at the USCIS office. The office was pretty much empty. Only one out of 4 windows open and another couple and us were the only ones waiting.
My lawyer is quite chirpy, and she kept talking about random stuff so my hubby and I dont get nervous.
We were called in at 3:15 pm.
We were made to take an oath and then seated.
She asked us both (hubby and me)for IDs and we gave them. I gave my EAD card. The officer then asked if I have my passport on me and i gave her the same.
My hubby was asked questions like:
what is your wife's name.
what is your wife's maiden name.
what is your wife's parents name.
what is your wife's date of birth
when did you get married.
where was your wife born.
my husband answered them all.
Next I was asked similar questions about my husband, and I answered them all. After which she asked my lawyer if we have any documents we would like to submit as an evidence of support. she gave them all to the officer and the officer made a note of it.
Then she asked us where we met and how and how long did we know each other before we got married.
Then she asked me when was the last time I entered the USA and I started giving her the date and then she said, is the i94 card for the same, i said "yes". then she asked if my passport was valid or expired and I said it is valid. She then asked for my original birth certificate. I gave it to her.
then she asked me all the questions with the "no" answer
She then took away my EAD and the advance parole documents. Said I will not need them anymore.
Then she said that everything looks ok and that she will be approving us and stamping my Passport and the GC will arrive in the mail in 30 days.
***She said most important thing is that I make sure that the name on my mail box is exactly the same on the green card application, or the card will be returned by the mail man and destroyed immediatly and I will keep waiting for the same for months together.
She then explained about the conditional GC and that in 2 years we will have another interview to remove the condition and then apply for citizenship a year after I get my GC.
She congratulated me as perm resident of USA today onward and wished me luck!!
In all it went well. But also she made sure that all the procedure was done. She was quite young, about 25 or 28. she was all smiles towards the end of the interview but at the begining was a lil strict.
I guess thats her job.
It was a long interview, but did not ask us any extra questions, just basic expected questions.
I already received email on the approvals for both i130 and i485.
Sorry was a long story .. but alls well that ends well
thanks for all your help and support and i wish the rest of you luck and am sure if you have your papers in place, you will be approved
take care .. cheers!!
