So my husband jointly with me is the sponsor for my daughter, his step daughter and our interview is coming up April 14th. However, a couple of weeks ago he lost his job. Will this cause a problem?
if he is the sponsor for your i-864 you guys will need to find a co-sponsor and bring a new i-864 to the interview along with all of the documents pertaining the co-sponsor (employment letter, paystubs, recent tax return).
Thank you for the quick reply. How much does the co-sponsor have to earn though? Enough to support the minor or enough to support the whole family of 3? According to US proverty guidelines it's $23K for 3 people. Can I (the wife and mother) be the sponsor alone or is it better to ask my girl-friend who is a USC? However she earns only around $20K a year. We are just in the process of buying a small business, where my husband is going to work since now he is unemployed. Will this help?
