Hi All,
It is a nice forum where lot of useful and also stress relieving exchange happens. Though I worked with ISN.org and contacted Congress women in District X related to S-2045 bill, I was quite passive in this activity.

Let me share what is reality with GC in Most of the cases (this is a dated document).
1. It is not difficult to get GC if you are with a Good Employer and if employer don\'t expose them selves to be aquired.
INS often created RFE on shaky employers than on solid basics employers.
2. Your Supervisor/Manager and Staffing Manager will be having a key role in working on your GC, so make sure that you are with the right people.
They should like you getting GC.
3. After your GC processing started, keep next 2 years dedicated to this process and engage your self in productive activity at work and do not bother about it much.
This keeps you progressing and don\'t make you worried about couple of weeks delay in your case compared to your buddy.
4.Keep yourself ahead of the game by knowing the GC process and putting together all the documents and info in proper folders. Often people involved in your GC may not be able to interpret your case properly. So, fill all the time gap since you graduated with proper, progressive, relavant work experience and also secure experience letter in the proper letter heads. If there are some issues with birth certificates or marriage certificate start that process too. Couple of hours a month is good.
Rec website www.immihelp.com Use google and give search you will them easily.
5. Also, though it is not your job, make sure that what job ads they used, what salary they quoted, what qualifications used etc. This will help in making sure your profile and the profile the ad needs are acceptable.
6. Some times attorneys may go wrong in handling/filling your documents, so always make sure that your document is complete and free of errors. Or atleast have a document to justify your stand.
7. Make sure that your name is spelt consistantly(even if it is expanded) across the documents and if there is abbreviations or initials make sure that attorney enters them in the other name used box of your forms.
8. And probability of getting GC with reasonable experience of 3-5 years is very high.
Myths about GC.
1. It is very slow to get GC.. No, in EB category it will take average 2 years.
2. It is faster in some places than other. Now a days it is almost same everywhere.
3. Your qualification is the biggest factor. No, your qualification is less relavant as long as your ad mentions it.
4. You can\'t be promoted during processing of GC. No, you can be promoted as long as your job profile doesn\'t change much.
5. You can\'t get raise during proc. of GC. No, inflation adjusted or what is normal to the industry is acceptable.
6. GC is everything. There is life without GC elsewhere!
