My father (principle asyslee) is now a US Citizen. File asulum 589 on my own?

I applied for 485 and was denied because my father has become a citizen. I came here when I was 14 and now hold an asylee status. I am told I would have to apply for asylum on my own using form i-589. Has anyone been through the same situation? Thanks!!!
