With EADs to be expiring in four days, my wife and I went to LA district office today on an InfoPass.
The applications for our AP/EAD renewals were filed in CSC 2 months ago and we got APs 2 weeks ago but got a notice of EAD transferral a week ago. I am not suprised since our applcations are in LA where we had an interview last July.
We were expecting to receive an interim EADs which I heard are difficult without reaching 90 waiting days. However, the officer got our applications right away and started to approve them right on the spot. We were so relieved after she stampped "Approved" on the applications. Meanwhile she asked for I-140 approval which we did not have. Then she did some searching and printed something and put them in our application folders. She did not forget to remind us that we need to submit it for next renewal.
She also asked for the previous old cards which we said we did not have since they were lost in mail. Actually our lawer filed applicaiton for replacements which had been rejected due to "check/unsigned" (do not ask me what it means since nobody knows even the officer).
She gave me a sheet with tomorrow's apointment so I need to go there again since the card office is closed by 2:30pm.
You know what, I patted my own shoulder several times for making a decision of going there rather than waiting passively for a mail which may never come.
Lessons we learnt:
1. I-140 approval is needed for EB cases;
2. Mail applciations directly to local district office if your I-485 is in local.
Hope this helps.
