He said you should be so happy that you have EAD and 140 approved. He said folks are so worried about their 140 now and he was so mad at NSC and said no one knows why NSC stopped doing its normal business even. He said Nebraska Center is getting worse everyday...if he is that frustrated imagine about me....but he said be happy that you can change job.

Rajiv might know more why Nebraska is behaving like this....any idea folks????

there is something really fishy going on @ NSC. those folks are really upto something. my attroney told me that these are all signs of halting GC's, that EB3 cases priority dates will retrogress soon. who ever gets GC now are lucky. fate of others is uncertain.

I would say whoever get I-140 and EAD's approved are really lucky. you cat atleast renew EAD and change jobs, until the GC process will become current.

Sorry... Couldn't resist. Please read the info before posting. Retrogressing the priority dates won't affect the filed I485's. They only affect future I485s because they would have to wait until it gets current. Go to Murthy.com to read the details.

My understanding is to the contrary. Visa date need to be current 1) at the time of filing I-485 and 2) at the time of its approval.

If visa date retrogresses then a pending I-485 cannot be approved unless the date becomes current again. The below link mentions this (read the very last para)

http://www.murthy.com/news/UDpdhdtw.html

I was also under the pleasant impression that since our I-485 is filed we do not have to worry about dates retrogressing, but apparently that's not the case.

No. Its different. I think that number may show up on Greencard. I dont have one yet  so can't confirm. :)

i was thinking that visa number is same as alien number. If they are different
and My FP is done then I get visa number. if Priority dates retrogress and I have visa number. Will they process my I-485 or still have to wait until the dates become current???

I thought the retrogression is due to excess of visa number allocated and they realized they ran out of visa numbers suddenly

Visa number and alien number are not the same. You will only receive the visa number AFTER I-485 is approved, and not before. If the dates retrogress and a visa number is not available for your priority date your I-485 will not be approved until a visa number becomes available.

From what I read somewhere (forgor where), once a I-485 is approved (assuming the priority dates are current or past that case's PD) the adudicating officer requests a visa number. Once the visa number is alloted the applicantr is notified of the approval.

thanks GRCA,

is this same as visa number?

In simple terms, your A#'s function is the same as your SS number. All your immigrant history can be accessed by using your A#. SS number can also be used for the same purpose but its use is more towards your Credit history. Once you get a A#, your SS# is automatically tied to it.
The Visa number can also be used by IIO's to retrive information. But this file will only contain information pertaining to that Visa number(if a visa# is fake, the computer will immediately catch it when an IIO scans the Visa at POE.
