some background....

I have been in this country for seven years. I came as a grad student but like familiar other stories I was only able to afford the first semester. I didn't realized that the private college in Boston would cos so so much plus I had to buy my assignments...etc..I fell into the cycle of workiing odd jobs to survive as I had no family here.

Then this year I met my husband online. He asked me out for coffee and at the time I wasn't sure if I really wanted to do this...( meeting people online etc, ), On the day we were to meet for the first time, I didn't want to go but at the last minute decided it wouldn't hurt to get a starbucks and get out for a while. The rest is history. It sounds cliche...but it was like the perfect date and we've been together since.

We lived together before we got married this August. I was flat broke and wasn't able to plan a wedding, so we eloped..(kinda )even though I bought a wedding gown and paid a church and minister. And then paid a professional photographer for a session so I can have memories and pictures to send to family.

We decided to file right away because we are planning to move to a cheaper state ( we live in Boston ) and the cost of living here has like quadrapled since I came here....and we were fortunate to get lawyer services for free from a friend who's a lawyer. He is just advising us but we are doing all the paper work and he's offered to come with us for the interview.

I went for my medical exam on September 9. I paid 230/= for the whole thing.
I advice go to your doctor and get your vaccination records, or have them do the blood work for you so that insurance can cover it. Also if you have any documents with relevant info about you health bring them. I have issues with my TB skin test because I was vaccinated at birth and then in 2002 so I cant' have the skin test done until after 15 yrs or so. I had documentation from my doctor in Africa supporting this and all I needed was a chest ex-ray.d
with all my records, the process went very fast. The doctor just asked the normal questions and did a mini physical and took some blood, had x ray done and I was out of there in less than half an hour.

Now I am waiting for my sealed envelope tommorow or monday.
My other forms are ready and just need the money orders attatched.
We are planning to send the stuff before the end of this month so we can try to get an interview by Dec because we have to relocate next year by February....

Our situation my seem hurried but it's for real and our lawyer said no need to worry about anything as long as you have all the documents. plus my husband finalized his divorce while he was living with me. He was seperated from his ex and it took long for him to get a divorce because he had no lawyer and his ex was slow at getting things signed.....but at last he was able to have it done and finalized.

He also told us on the day of the interview, we will bring copies of every document to save time and bring more paperwork than is required so that if we get surprise questions we can provide documentation.

I will upadate this as we do things and will be detailed to help others.
