What's gone wrong with you guys? Maybe the wait has skewed your logical thinking and interpretation.

Sad to say but first time I agree with IamShantanuB

it is a Mirage as at this present moment it is totally contrary to the US security policies and it can never be implemented.

Another joke from a well known lawyer.

My Take
worst Case scenario: it is a joke
best Case Scenario :it can say that the dependency of a sponsoring authority/company is removed after 180 days. However we will give GC only after all your checks are completed. This may take your lifetime. Suits BCIS also as it will remove the pressure from them.and new GC filers forget your GC's as your labor annd I140 will never get approved.

Cool Down Guys.

I agree that BCIS may come up with some very surprising stuff. Remember when in 1999 for 6 months everybody who had a approved 140 became current and could file 485....

We may hear some good news, but lets not speculate too much as too what it would be and then later sulk (remember the magnificent 7 news)

I agree with vission

I totally agree with vission. It's hard to believe they will approve all 180-days 485 cases, at least not under current political situation.

could be true

I for one, think that this could be totally true. Everyone gets their green cards after July 11, and then later on, there'll be a new ruling granting us the citizienship after 6 months so that we can vote in the next elections. The way I see it, it's the creation of a whole new vote bank!!! ;)

If I get citizenship in 6 months, I will work in Bush's campaign for free, and when the next Bush rules, I will work in his too.

1. He promised me that the BCIS will release such a memo by this Friday, July 11, 2003.

2. I expect something to be released in about a week or two.

I am not able to decipher the time difference between these two lines. One says Friday July 11 and the second line says about a week or two.

Can someone throw some light please . Let us just not get excited with ""July 11"" plzzzzz.

such pessimists!

Which is understandable considering all of the sh*t BCIS has put most of us through.
However, consider this:

As much as we are frustrated with the backlog, you have to imagine that it must be a huge pain in the arse for BCIS too.

Holding back GC's only affects the 'honest' people. i.e. if I was a terrorist intent on blowing things up, what difference will having/not having that piece of plastic mean to me? Nothing.

So, if I was the BCIS, and wanted to get rid of that pesky back log...... approve them all (or at least the ones that were going to get approved anyway). I can still do the background check in the mean time, and if something bad turns up I can revoke the GC and deport the party.

This way, I get rid of a huge thorn in my side, thousands of people who hate me, now love me, and there is no security risk, because if there were terrorists out there, then they are already in the country, and wouldn't show up until we did the background check anyway.

Seems to make a lot of sense to me. Of course, the BCIS is reknown for giving us the run around, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see........

1amShantanuB is right on this one... Its a non starter. The only way to read this thing is that after 180 days BCIS will grant your green card 'provided you are not found inadmissable.' This is the whole point of the 485 process. So, no change you still have to keep your jobs and you still can't commit crimes...Don't believe to hard..you will get smack in the face...
