I-130 is approved by BCIS, not US consulate. Once approved, BCIS forwards it to NVC. It can take 3-6 months for the approved I-130 to reach US consulate in Mumbai. Consulate schedules interview in 3-6 weeks.Originally posted by Indousa

Thanks nkm-oct23. So, if I need to sponsor someone for consul processing, I'll have to first file I-130 at the Service Center where I live? Is that correct? Or can I choose any one of the 4 service centers? And, how long does it take for the I-130 to be approved? Thanks, once again.

..at the service center closest to where you live. Are you a US citizen?
