Has anybody tried contacting the Mumbai consulate via email at the address : MumbaiIV@state.gov and recieved any reply?

My I-140 was approved for CP and sent to Mumbai. I realized this a year after I applied for 485 when I started to explore why my AOS has not been approved as yet. My RD: 21st Feb 01, ND: 1st Mar 01, RFE: 28Jan 02 (Empl. Letter) RFE recieved by INS: 13th Mar 02.

I found from NVC that my I-140 has been sent to Mumbai in Dec 2000 itself. I sent in an email asking the Mumbai consulate if they have recieved a request from INS to send back my I-140. I have not heard from them since 2 weeks.

I will appreciate any info/experience.

get from NVC a reference # under which it went from NVC to mumbai

for mumbai this number begins with BMB#####... using this as a reference send e-mail to mumbai consulate and you will get the reply promptly. Mumbai consulate will not understand anything in terms of EAC number.

Are/were you in a similar situation? Any idea how long it takes INS to retrieve the I-140 back form Mumbai Consulate?
 
consulate is faster. But vermont ins is slower in my case

Samething happened to me. Chennai sent the I 140 to vermont by AUG 2001. But it entered into the VSC system by November 28 2001. (of course sept 11th mail room delay). It might be faster for you.

well usually INS is quick in asking for the file and consulate is prompt in returning the case too but even than my case got delayed by about 3 months than normal time. my I-140 as per mumbai consulate was requested/sent 9 months before the approval date. so i don\'t know what was holding INS from approving my case. i know it is easier for me to say but keep patience and if ur case is overdue by more than 2-3 months than contact your local senator and put some pressure on INS.
