multiple use of AP

I have a stamped AP valid for about a year. I want to use it to go to India a 2nd time in one year.

At the first time out of the three copies one was taken at POE.

My question is what happens the 2nd time. Can anyone please post experiences.

Thank you.

No problems on that count. Usually AP's these days are for multiple entry. Check your AP to ensure the above, if it is for single entry then they will definitely take one AP at POE. But if it is multiple and you are down to your last AP, they will give it back to you.

Good luck and have a safe trip.

multiple travels

Yes you should be able to travel multiple times on an AP.
I travelled only once but at the POE the officer who stamped on the AP and said I could use it to travel for a year from that date.

Multiple Uses of AP

I did travel multiple times on the AP issued (thrice). They took only one copy (the first time). I have two extra copies with me. In my case they stamped on the second copy of the AP (they themselves took a photocopy of their records) and returned the document to me.

Note : My second trip back to the States was through Honolulu where they had no clue of a parole visa. So I am not sure whether they were supposed to take the second copy of the parole visa. At Honolulu they did not even stamp the parole visa document.

My wife travelled twice out of the country and got back into the country through New York & Minneapolis. The parole visa has been stamped twice (one for each trip). She still has two additional copies of the document in her possession (basically all the three copies issued with one doc. stamped twice).

So as one can see there is no consistency in the process.

Interestingly, during our last MI485 Forum meeting we discussed the same point -

I understand that its better to make copies of the AP document , 'coz sometimes while returning from India, at the airport (the airline staff) they insist on keeping a copy and I believe from the experience people have had in the past, they accept photocopies - but at PoE you need to have original.

Last time when i came from India. In Mumbai they took one AP, I didn't have poto copy at that time. They needed either photocopy or original. At POE they just stamped on my AP, and returned it back.

Its good to have couple of photo copies of AP.

As MrCoolz points it, one needs to have the original in possession for entry.

In my previous posting when I refer to 3 copies of the documents, the NSC center had issued 3 original documents (for both my wife and myself). I still have two of them and my wife has all the three despite our trips.

Again new stories keep emerging from different sources; making copies for the other agencies and for oneself is very good suggestion.
