Multiple I-140 and I -485 question

My I-140 in EB12 and NIW are both pending. Now I want to file I-485. I know I can only pick one category to file 485. However, I don't know which 140 will be approved yet. What can I do? Wait until the I-140 approval? If I file 485 under EB12 and then NIW is approved earlier, can I cancel the old I-485 and file a new one?

I was in the same situation, I filed my I-140 both EB1-EA (ND July 5, 2002) and NIW (ND Sep 5, 2002). I asked my Attorney which category I should file my I-485, because I was not sure which one will get approved first. My attorney filed I-485 on the basis of both I-140 receipts in June 2003. Within one month of filing I-485 my I-140 (NIW) got approved (AD July 11, 2003). I'm still waiting for the approval of my first I-140 (EB1-EA).

Thanks for your reply! I get confused.... How could your lawyer file two I-485 for you? It is said that you can file multiple I-140, but only ONE I-485. Isn't it true?

I noticed most people file 140 and 485 concurrently. I just know that can save the time of I-485 waiting, but can concurrent filing speed up I-140?

It may be OK to file an I-485 referencing both pending I-140 cases. However, in that situation, which I-140 does your I-485 go with? Your NIW was approved but EA is still pending. So, did your I-485 go with NIW automatically? Why are you still waiting for EA I-140? Thank you! It's very important to me.

My attorney wrote me that they are not going to withdraw my EA I-140, but may be if there is a RFE. I was also informed by my attorney after my NIW I-140 approval that my I-485 is fine, I don't know if it will go with NIW automatically or not. I also read in this forum that EA I-140 is better than NIW I-140 for I-485 approval. I don't know why!!
